To Cleanse or Not to Cleanse . . .

I joined 22 other Pilates Studio City members on the Pressed Juicery cleanse recently and overall I am very glad I did it.  With that said it was not easy at times.  I love food and like many find comfort in certain foods.  None of which were pressed into my 8 tonics for the 3 day cleanse.  But alas- I made it and more than a week later I am still reaping the benefits.

I choose to do the “Cleanse 1” that Pressed Juicery offers.  I went down their menu list and choose what seemed to be the best for me.  I wouldn’t say I loved all of the ones I picked but none of them were so bad that I couldn’t get them down.  And Pressed Juicery is so smart to save the best for last!  The last juice of the day was so amazing!  I miss it!  It was like a meal and dessert in one!  Very satisfying after a long day of liquids only.

One thing I learned the hard way though is that the “pre-cleanse” they ask you to do is important.  I didn’t wean myself off of things like meat, dairy, or caffeine so the with draw on day one was brutal.  I have a major caffeine addiction that wasn’t completely obvious to me until I couldn’t have it.  Nothing that a couple of Tylenols and a nap couldn’t fix though.  Day two was much better only a small headache at the end of the day but an earlier bed time helped.  I slept for about 12 hours that night which did amazing things for my mental clarity the next day.  Day 3 was even better.  I wanted to chew on something pretty bad that day so they said I could have cucumber and an apple.  The point of the cleanse was not to torture myself but to simply give my digestive system a break.  It definitely feels that way.  I don’t have some of the digestive issues I had pre-cleanse and I still haven’t gone back to coffee!  Just today however I added some organic green tea in the morning.  During the cleanse, I lost 3 pounds and since I finished I gained 1.5 lbs. back.  I didn’t start the cleanse in order to lose weight but it’s also fine that I did lose a little.

Overall I would DEFINITELY recommend the Pressed Juicery cleanse if you are at all curious.  I’ll be doing it again!

I also did the juice cleanse. I found it to be a challenge to get all the liquid consumed each day. I felt like I was drinking all day and often found I had not made it through all the juices. I did feel better though by the end and felt really virtuous about consuming so much good, clean, healthy nutrients. I’d do it again.

I would LOVE to participate next time. I took the quiz and it recommended Cleanse 3. I guess I eat much healthier than I thought =).

I did it too and — very surprisingly to me — found it fairly easy to do. I was never hungry, which is super odd bc I love food! My “red #1” was the only challenge I had — couldn’t get that mutha down without a gulp of herbal tea before and after each sip. The experience completely changed my dietary preferences — haven’t had dairy or wheat since the cleanse; have had very little meat; hardly any sugar. THAT is fantastic bc I struggled with digestion issues for decades and have not had a single episode post-cleanse. Would definitely do it again!
