Throughout the month of January, various group classes at Pilates Studio City will focus on toning the booty and legs. This particular focus was requested by more than a few clients. We heard you and we are delivering!
While I know that none of us, male or female, would mind having a shapelier lower half for pure aesthetics, what further motivation do we have to build strength there?
Our glutes are a beautiful network of muscles, small and large, which provide a wide range of movements as well as support to the pelvis and spine. Not only do they fill a pair of jeans nicely, but they create stability in the pelvis, which is composed of many bones. The pelvis has the essential job of providing enough stability to the spine while also allowing plenty of movement in the hip. Well-developed and balanced glute muscles are essential to this dynamic intersection of the upper and lower halves of the body.
And what of the legs? No doubt, whatever your movement-based New Year’s resolution is, it will necessitate strong legs! Our glutes may stabilize our spine, but we also want that spine moving—up hiking trails, down ski-slopes, through the finish line of a marathon, or (perhaps more demanding) finishing that long work week or keeping up with the 2-year old! No matter what our daily activity comprises, we will need those legs to get us through it all for many years to come. Developing balanced leg strength, from front to back and side to side, will keep your knees healthy and you on top of them for the long haul!
So join us this January for a Booty and Leg-focused group class to develop tone, strength, and a healthier you!

Hi…I have been a member of your studio for several years taking Pilates 2 mat classes. I have some experience on the Reformer and was wondering if I could take a Group 2 Level class with all the years I have been doing Pilates. Can you let me know?
